Which frame of an animated GIF do I get?
The first frame — browsers decode GIFs as a static image showing frame one when drawn to a canvas.
Can I extract a later frame instead?
Not with this tool — it only captures the first frame. Frame-by-frame GIF extraction needs a dedicated GIF-parsing library this tool doesn't include.
Will transparency be preserved?
No. JPG doesn't support transparency, so any transparent areas in the GIF are filled with white.
