    Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded anywhere when I add a background?

No. The background is filled in locally in your browser using the Canvas API. It never leaves your device.

Does this work on a JPG?

JPGs have no transparency to begin with, so this tool is really only useful for PNG or WEBP images with transparent areas — uploading a JPG will just redraw it unchanged over the background color, invisibly.

    Can I pick any color?

Yes, any solid color via the color picker.

What format does the result download as?

JPG, since the whole point is filling transparency with an opaque background — though you can re-export as PNG afterward with the Image Converter if needed.
