    Do I need to know the password?

    Yes. This tool removes protection from a PDF you can already open — it does not crack, guess, or bypass a password you don't know.

    Is my PDF or password uploaded anywhere?

    No. Both are processed entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to a server.

    Which password-protected PDFs does this support?

    PDFs using the standard security handler with 40-bit or 128-bit RC4 encryption (Revisions 2 and 3) — the most common type, and the default in many PDF tools. Newer AES-encrypted PDFs (the "256-bit" option in recent Acrobat versions) aren't supported yet, and this tool will tell you clearly if that's the case rather than fail silently.

    Will this change anything else in my PDF?

    No. Only the password protection is removed — page content, text and formatting are preserved exactly.
