Q: Can I edit text that's already in the PDF?

Yes — switch to the Edit Text tool and click any existing text on the page. It's replaced with an editable box pre-filled with the original words, with the font style (serif, sans-serif or monospace) and size auto-detected; you can then fine-tune the font, size, bold, italic and colour before saving.

How to use this tool

Drag and drop your PDF into the box above, or click to browse and select it.
Pick a tool from the toolbar — Text, Edit Text, Draw, Highlight, Shape, Image, Signature, Date or Whiteout — and set its colour, size or thickness in the options row.
To change existing wording, use Edit Text: click any text on the page and type your replacement — the font, size, bold/italic and colour are auto-detected and shown in the options row so you can adjust them.
Click or drag directly on the page to add new content: click once for text, a date, an image or a signature, and drag for boxes, lines, highlights and freehand strokes.
Use ◀ Previous and Next ▶ to move between pages — each page keeps its own separate set of edits.
Switch to Select to drag anything into place (or click it and press Delete to remove it), then press Save & Download PDF to build and download the edited file.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything — viewing, editing and saving — happens locally in your browser using pdf.js and pdf-lib. Your file is never uploaded to a server.

Can I edit text that's already in the PDF?

No, this tool adds new content on top of the page (text, shapes, images, a signature and more) — it doesn't let you edit or reflow the PDF's existing original text. That kind of in-place text editing isn't reliably possible in a browser-only tool.

Is Whiteout a secure way to redact sensitive information?

No. Whiteout draws an opaque rectangle over the area, which hides it visually, but the original content underneath is not removed from the file — someone could still potentially recover it by other means. For real redaction of sensitive data, don't rely on this tool.

Can I undo a mistake?

Yes — switch to Select mode, click the annotation you want to remove, and press Delete (or the Delete button that appears).

Do my edits apply to every page?

No, each page keeps its own separate set of annotations — switch pages using the Previous/Next buttons, and whatever you added on a page stays exactly on that page.
