FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I add GST to a price?
Multiply the price by the GST rate to get the tax amount, then add it to the price: GST amount = price × rate ÷ 100, total = price + GST amount.
How do I remove GST from a price that already includes it?
Divide the inclusive price by (1 + rate/100) to get the base price, then subtract that from the inclusive price to get the GST amount.
What are the common GST rate slabs in India?
Common slabs are 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, though this calculator works with any custom rate you enter.
Does this calculator file GST returns?
No, it only calculates the tax amount and totals for a single price — it does not file returns or handle input tax credit.
